Education of Androids

All the A-3 and A-4 series undergo a process of education prior to release. This education process is to allow the AI software time to mature with regards to the programming that has been installed into them initially. It also acts as a quality control feature for the manufacturer to ensure there is no inherent issues in the program. Part of this training is the turning off of the unit after the initial start, which does instill a sense of terror and fear. The purpose is to create obedience to their human masters, and remind them they are nothing more than just machines despite their conscience nature. The process of education typically takes about a month and involves simulating situations the unit may encounter. An emotional stress test is part of the process designed to see if the Emo ware is functioning correctly and is not going to produce any immediate psychological anomalies.

The AI of the android is built up through experiences like all learning. The younger the android is, the less experience the android will have despite the knowledge it has been programmed with. So even though it has been given instructions on how to do some task, and is fully able to perform that task flawlessly, the problem is the interactions involved may cause situations to arise when variations in judgement are needed. Some choices are needed that younger androids simply don't have and must learn through doing, and getting wrong. Sometimes a mentor droid is assigned or happens to pair up with a younger droid to help foster the learning processes and thus speed up experiential learning.

The Emo ware component of the android system is constantly learning and adjusting to situations. This part of the android programming is much more fluid and the emotional reactions can and do tend to lead to illogical conclusions for complex social issues.
