Terrorism with the A-Series

Aside from the obvious use of droids as just killing machines, one side effect of having a fusion cell system as the power source is that this power source can be used as a basic fusion bomb. The explosive power is not as great as one would think, but it can still do considerable damage. Earlier attempts by radical groups to use this technology provided proof of concept by forcing the fusion reaction past the helium stage to the lithium stage, which exceeded the magnetic containment abilities to maintain the pressure, resulting in a catastrophic explosion of the device. To make matters worse, there were various radioactive elements scattered about during the explosion, so it became a variant of a dirty bomb.

Because the droid fusion cell is not that large it would take several of them going off at one time to make a serious catastrophic situation in an urban center. This theory is no longer possible with the A-4 models and some A-3 models due to safety features built into the fusion fuel cells to prevent a dirty bomb. But there are still some older A-3 models out there with older fusion cells not so equipped.

It is also possible to find an old A-2 fusion cell in a junk yard here and there that if you can get it to work could be adapted into a dirty bomb as well.
