I’ve been told that these two JSD’s will be updated in 2024-2025. So newer versions will be available after that point. Which means the publisher will discontinue these original versions in 2024. I'd hold off on buying them until the newer versions if I were you.

New Rosella Tolfree Story published in data-driven fiction
![]() |
| This is a skectch of Rosella Tolfree (age 43) done by the comic book artist Matthew Childers |
data-driven fiction has posted a new Rosella Tolfree story entitled, Rosella Gets Her First Tattoo, and It’s Medical. This is part of an article that deals with how the future of tattoos will be digital and A.I. art could be used with it.
The PKD Movie Paycheck
I saw on Prime Video recently, Paycheck, a 2003 film starring Ben Affleck. The movie was based on the 1953 Philip K. Dick short story with the same name. Supposedly it got negative reviews when it was released back in 2003, but honestly the director, John Woo, and writer, Dean Georgaris, kept many elements common to PKD. For instance, characters smoking. Smoking characters was a thing with his writings, along with paranoia about a nuclear holocaust and general distrust of the government. All themes well captured in the movie Paycheck. The written story is only available now in the used book market.
Gun Violence in Rosella's World
This is a post I made a few weeks ago on Rosella Tolfree’s Blog Site about her world and gun violence. Technically, this is the second commentary on this subject.
I know the U.S. Senate has some sort of bi-partisan bill in the works, one which is going to deal with red flag issues like mental health.
But I have on Medium in Invisible Illness a piece about my own struggles with suicide ideation as an autistic. In the article, I talk briefly about suicide by cop and how ridiculously dystopian society would have to become to keep guns away from every potentially mass shooter. But if you want to take my gun rights away because I’m a documented nut case... I don’t mind.
Eduarda MartÃnez- “The Putin of Mexico”
I posted on the Rosella Tolfree blog site, a backgrounder on Eduarda MartÃnez- “The Putin of Mexico”. These events involve another conflict between the U.S. and Mexico which results in loss of territory from the U.S. this time. All these things happen way before Rosella's time though.
A Rosella Tolfree World Story- Cory Sheppard
Just posted on the E-JSD Substack newsletter/blog was my Rosella Tolfree World Story of Cory Sheppard. It contains some background details of Rosella's future world, and shows why full cybernetic body replacement is not done in her world.
Rosella Tolfree's World and Current Events of the Russian-Ukraine War
I’m finding it hard these days with Russian-Ukraine War taking place in Europe to write anything for Rosella Tolfree’s World. I predicate a lot of her world on current events and extrapolating them into the future. But I do not know where this war is going. I see multiple possibilities from a negotiated peace and cease fire for the next ten to twenty years to Putin getting everything he wants to all out thermonuclear war (which in theory is the least likely).
While many think-tank pundits thought the War in Ukraine was inevitable, for me, it was a shock. The invasion of Crimea was back in 2014, but it didn’t make a dent in my consciousness, unlike the COVID-19 pandemic and the events of 9-11. And I was old enough to pay attention back in 2014, but clearly it wasn’t a big enough thing in our nation to leave an impression.
As a fiction writer using current events, I’m simply going to wait it out. Work on some other projects for a time. If we all don’t get blown up from a nuclear holocaust before then.

Feeling Old Age Setting In
The other day I got news of an old friend I hadn't seen in long while had passed away due to surgical complications.
Now I find out the one of my favorite singers (Meat Loaf) from my youth just died.
I'm really feeling old age setting in where all the people you once knew are disappearing.
The Drums Keep Beating for the JSD #5 to be finished.
Work continues on the JSD #5... which contains a few of the Rosella Tolfree stories spanning her early years with the Ranger Marshals to her mid-point in her career.
The long-term plan is to publish the complete life of Rosella Tolfree. A series of installment stories. A kin to short short fiction, but when read in sequence you understand the plot arches and characters. Think of them as chapters.
Sorry, I’m autistic, so I don’t write or think like famous authors, like Asimov or PKD, everyone is used to. Keep this in mind when reviewing my works.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think either were autistic. I know PKD had mental issues, while Asimov was a heavy drinker.
I write and think mostly in brief scenes that, when tied together, make sense. Ironically, when my writings are analyzed, they are akin to Michael Connelly or James Patterson. Neither of these people writes science fiction.
The Future of Food is the Entomo Diet
Entomo is a future colloquialism for entomophagy, the consumption of insects. While many animals eat insects, there are today “3,000 ethnic groups” that “practice entomophagy.”
Typically, western cultures see eating insects as gross. But by Rosella Tolfree’s time, the consumption of insects has become commonplace.
